THE CIO SUMMIT®, Canada’s leader in IT executive development, produces ongoing educational events in major cities across the country. THE CIO SUMMIT® is the leading Canadian forum at which senior IT executives from Canada and abroad can address issues of importance to their industry. IT Executive Leadership Program

In 2004, in collaboration with the faculty of Ryerson University in Toronto, THE CIO SUMMIT® developed the IT Executive Leadership Program for the direct reports of CIOs who wish to acquire business skills to enable them to be more effective in their current positions as well as to be eligible for new managerial challenges. The program pairs a leading academic in the field with an experienced practitioner to ensure that participants gain insight into both theory and practice pertinent to their future roles as CIOs. This is an innovative university-level program aimed at preparing today’s information technology managers for the challenges they will face as they reach the senior management level in their organizations.

About Barry Clavir

For 25 years, Barry Clavir has been a senior strategist specializing in a wide array of business development and marketing and communications projects. Clavir, President of Motivational Strategies and Executive Director of THE CIO SUMMIT®, works closely with organizations that wish to better understand the needs and interests of CIOs and their counterparts in Canada and the United States and conducts research projects and seminars designed to enhance the effectiveness and strategic capabilities of senior business executives.

An MBA graduate of York University in Toronto (1976), Clavir spent the early part of his career as an account director with large international advertising agencies and as a television producer. He is a past member of the Board of Governors for the Information Technology Association of Canada (ITAC), a member of the Board of Directors for the University Club of Toronto and a founding member of the Board of Directors of Kids' Internet Safety Alliance (KINSA), a national not-for-profit organization devoted to making the Internet a safe place for children. He is also Co-Founder and Chairman of the Young Navigators®, a not-for-profit organization designed to assist young adults seeking career opportunities in the information technology sector.

Motivational Strategies Inc. is a management consulting company based in Toronto, Ontario, that provides strategic marketing and business plan consulting, as well as research and communications services, to large organizations in Canada and the United States. In addition to an active consulting practice, Motivational Strategies also produces THE CIO SUMMIT®, Canada’s business technology conference, for senior IT executives.

Motivational Strategies works with organizations in both the private and public sectors to help them bring their goods and services to market more effectively. As well as research and analysis of buyer behaviour, Motivational Strategies provides a full suite of go-to-market and business development tools and services.
